What are your beliefs about how people learn best? What is the purpose of learning theory in educational technology?
I think people learn differently than others. All learners are individuals and progress and their own speed. However, I believe a great group of people learn by doing and practicing the skill. I personally learn best by doing. I don’t think there’s one method that will always work with learners. It is a combination of methods that will help learners to gain skills, visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic.
The learning theory in educational technology serves the purpose of providing various means of learning through educational technology. The learning theory provides that all students learn differently and provides effective means of instruction of education technology.

ReplyDeleteYour definition of the role and purpose that the learning theory plays in educational technology is very informative and clear, but I would like to add that the various learning theories help to continuously shape and form educational technology into what it is today. The link to the article, Learning Theories and Second Life was very interesting. The part that grasped my attention the most was the part about how understanding the basic fundamentals of learning theories helps the educator best craft a learning “blueprint,” which justifies and drives the learning activities for students. I can relate to the above statement, because in order to build a solid foundation we must master the basic fundamental skills that are needed to move to the next level.

Diedre,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to class. You posted a good definition of the learning styles. I think that the first step is being a good instructor is knowing what type of learner you are. This will help you relate to your students. The correct learning style can aid in the growth of the individual.
